The Board of Directors Announces Major Renovations to the
Duncan & Miller Glass Museum

Recently, the Board of Directors addressed some important decisions regarding the Duncan & Miller Museum. There have been heating and plumbing problems that required the proper professional repairs and more critical was the immediate need to address several serious concerns. These included failing porch support columns and old and dirty brick facing on the museum - the building had begun to look as though it was in a state of disrepair. In addition, parts of the facing had loosened and started to fall from the building exposing the wood siding.

The decision was made to make significant upgrades to the building façade. A local company, Kosek Remodeling, was contracted to remove the brick facing, clean the soffit and fascia, and add insulation. Vinyl siding, porch support columns, new windowsills, and porch railings were also installed.

The work was completed in mid-December of 2008, and as shown in the picture below, the Museum now has a beautiful new look - a fitting home for the amazing glass displayed inside.

The Board is currently considering several additional projects, including porch decks and lattice, signage, and fencing. Members and friends of the National Duncan Glass Society will have an opportunity to support the Board's goal to move forward with Museum upgrade projects while at the same time continuing to support glass acquisitions, educational programs, and technology advancements with the "View to the Future" campaign. Details of the campaign will be released soon.
